FANTASY BOOK CLUB
Description of Club:
The Fantasy Book Club is open to all students who love to read fantasy and science fiction books. We discuss what we’ve been reading, create book displays in the Media Center, and write book reviews for our online blog. New members are always welcome.

MATH COUNTS
Description of Club:
Mathcounts is designed to inspire excellence, confidence and curiosity in middle school students. We solve challenging and fun math problems to prepare for competitions and improve math skills for everyday computation.

SCRABBLE CLUB
Description of Club:
In Scrabble club, we will learn the rules of and play Scrabble; have fun with friends; learn new words and even practice math and spelling.

Every other Tuesday in room 264 with Mrs. Paisie. This club alternates with Writers Guild. Listen to announcements will remind you which group is meeting each week. Scrabble Club starts on 9/15.

STUDENT COUNCIL
Description of Club:
The Davis Drive Middle School Student Council is made up of two representatives from each team. We participate in several activities throughout the year to benefit our school, as well as the community. The Student Council puts on all three of the dances, with the help of the PTA. The annual food drive, “Pennies for Patients,” Spirit Week, and are just a few of the programs that the Student Council is in charge of. Last year, the Student Council donated money to the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, Coats for Kids, and people in need.

Student council will meet every other Thursday. There will be an interest meeting on 9/10 and the first full meeting is 9/24.

WRITERS GUILD
Description of Club:
In the Writers Guild, we share stories and poems we've written; ask for ideas to overcome writers' block; talk about favorite books and authors; this year we want to publish a school literary magazine.

The DDMS Yearbook Staff is an application only organization that will assist the 8th grade Yearbook class with pictures and ideas for the yearbook.
