As the school social worker, my role is to link the school, home, and community. I work with students, families, staff, and community agencies to help students receive the best possible education so students can meet the challenges of the future. I understand student/family strengths, needs, and problems; offer consultation to school staff; counsel individuals, groups, and families; help improve relationships between families and students; connect families to community resources; and explore ways to prevent problems. I assist with the following concerns: poor attendance, failing grades, family crises, emotional and behavioral concerns, and unmet basic needs.
