Mrs. Clayton is a 2003 graduate of Meredith College where she received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree. While at Meredith, Mrs. Clayton was the principal cellist of the Meredith College Orchestra. She also played with the Raleigh Civic Symphony, The Meredith College String Trio and Quartet, and numerous other ensembles. She is currently a member of the Raleigh Symphony.

Prior to her studying at Meredith, Mrs. Clayton graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, NC. While in high school, Mrs. Clayton played with the Page High School Orchestra, the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra, All County and All State Orchestra as well as the NC Honors All State Orchestra.

Mrs. Clayton has been playing the cello since she was 9. She began in the Suzuki Method, studying under Scott Walker in Greensboro. She continued her study with Virginia Hudson while at Meredith. While her first and primary instrument is the cello, Mrs. Clayton also enjoys playing the many other instruments as well.

Mrs. Clayton also teaches privately both from her home and at the Cary School of Music where she also directs the Cary Cello Choir. Mrs. Clayton has also taught strings at the Magellan Charter School and Apex High School.

In her free time (which there is not much of!), Mrs. Clayton enjoys playing music with the band at her church, knitting and arranging music. She also enjoys swimming (she even coaches both competitive as well as synchronized swimming in the summer at Lakemont Swim Club), playing Irish/Celtic/Bluegrass fiddle music (on both the fiddle and the cello) and volunteering at her church, Vintage21 and spending time with her husband, Justin.http://meredith.eduhttp://www.raleighsymphony.com/default.asphttp://www.caryschoolofmusic.com/page2.htmlhttp://web.me.com/meaghanclayton/mclayton/cello_choir.htmlhttp://www.lakemontpool.comhttp://vintage21.com/shapeimage_6_link_0shapeimage_6_link_1shapeimage_6_link_2shapeimage_6_link_3shapeimage_6_link_4shapeimage_6_link_5
