Davis Drive Middle School has a rich history rooted in growth and collaboration within the Cary/Apex community. The school building, constructed in 1995, shares a campus
with Davis Drive Elementary School and has served as an important part of the local educational landscape ever since.
Before officially opening as Davis Drive Middle, the building temporarily housed West Cary Middle School during the 1995–1996 school year while their campus was under renovation. During that time, approximately 100 sixth-grade students were assigned to the site, with plans for them to remain when Davis Drive Middle opened the following year.
Davis Drive Middle School officially opened its doors in the 1996–1997 school year, initially serving sixth and seventh grade students, while also housing ninth graders from Apex High School. Despite sharing the facility, the school community experienced a smooth and successful first year.
In its second year, the addition of eighth grade created a more crowded environment, presenting new challenges for both school communities. By the 1998–1999 school year, both schools transitioned back to their own campuses, allowing Davis Drive Middle to fully establish itself as a dedicated middle school.
Today, Davis Drive Middle School continues to build on its strong foundation, fostering a supportive and engaging environment for all students.
All Wake County Public School System students will be prepared to reach their full potential and lead productive lives in a complex and changing world.
Davis Drive Middle School will cultivate a culture of continuous growth that empowers each student to achieve excellence inside and outside of the classroom.
